John 3:34-36
For the one whom God had sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit...
It is stated here, "God gives the Spirit without limit." When Jesus was on earth, He was filled with power, preached with authority and this was all because He received His power from above. He was only an ordinary carpenter during His thirty years living on earth, but it is recorded in Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim the freedom for the prisoners and recovery of the sight for the blind, to release the oppressed." The power bought forth by the Holy Spirit enabled Jesus to perform many miracles: lives were transformed; many repented and turned to God; lives were transformed; Peter and Andrew forsook their nets and followed Him as a result; and for those possessed with evil spirits, under the bondage of the power of darkness, He was able to free their spirits; not only that, the Lord was also able to heal the sick. Because of the work of the Holy Spirit manifested through Jesus Christ, miracles happened in their midst.
In addition, the Lord said in John 14:12, "Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these." Whenever I read about this passage, I did not think much of it because how could it be possible that we do what Jesus did? Or perhaps doing even greater things? The reason for this skepticism is because we do not comprehend this source of power that Jesus possessed. The Holy Spirit was the source of Jesus' power. When He was anointed with the Holy Spirit, He carried out His ministry with authority and power. For this reason, the Bible says, the church is the body of Christ. Christ means "the anointed one." In other words, the church is not only related to Christ, it is also related to the anointed Jesus. For this very reason, the church on earth has received this power from the Holy Spirit, and we can absolutely do what Jesus did.
Not only we can do what Jesus did, we can do even greater things! At the time when Jesus was on earth, the work of the Holy Spirit was still limited because the salvation had not been accomplished, and the power of Satan had not been crushed. But because of the salvation of Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross, He was victorious. As a result, the Holy Spirit can freely work in our lives. It is also because of the Holy Spirit, we can now do greater things. Hallelujah! Now that the Holy Spirit is in us, let us rise, spread the gospel and serve our Lord!
