John 17:9-10
"I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them."
The Lord says, "I pray for them." This is such a precious promise! The Lord Jesus has already been victorious over the enemy, has ascended on high, and is waiting for the Father to make his enemies a footstool for his feet. He has already completed all the work and is now in heaven and does not need to add anything more to the work of salvation. Yet there is one thing he is doing right now, he is praying for us unceasingly day and night.
The Lord Jesus prophesized during the Last Supper that Peter will deny him three times. But it is interesting that the Lord did not call him "Peter" at the time, but called him "Simon". "Simon" is Peter's original name and it reflects his natural life is like an unstable reed. Peter stumbled because inside him remained the natural life. He is still serving from the flesh, so the old Simon often comes out. That's why the Lord called to him, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat." However, the next thing Jesus said is, "But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail."
The Lord says, "I have prayed for you." The Lord has already prayed for our weaknesses, so that we can stand up under all trials and not lack faith. Brothers and sisters, the Lord already knows the trials you will experience and he has not stopped praying for you. The Lord's prayer is not like man's prayer. Man's prayer is oftentimes praying according to our own desires. But the Lord's prayer is praying according to God's will, that we may display the glory of God.
The Lord prays for you and because of this the Holy Spirit is moving in your heart. John Newton, the hymn writer of "Amazing Grace", used to lead a life of dissipation and did all sorts of evil things as a young man. Yet, because his mother prayed for him unceasingly, in the end during an extremely dangerous situation, he repented and turned back to God and became a glorious testimony for the Lord. Brothers and sisters, if a person's prayer can bring such a result, how much more is the result of the prayers offered by our Lord before God?
Hebrews 7:25 says, "Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." Do you know someone is praying for you? Even when you feel extremely lonely and feel there's no one who cares for you, in reality the Lord Jesus is praying for you because you belong to God. Jesus will pray for you before God day and night non-stop, until God's will is fulfilled in your life. Hallelujah! Let us thank him, praise him, and continue to pray to him. Let us place our lives completely in his hands.
