John 17:13-16

"... I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

We must understand this clearly - We don't belong to the world! As soon as you become a Christian, the life inside you belongs to God.  Your life doesn't belong to the world, and in fact it's contrary to the world.  The Lord said in verse 14: "I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world."  The Lord doesn't belong to the world, and ultimately the world rejected Him and nailed Him to the cross.  It's the same way for us - Unless we do not take a stand, the world will ultimately reject us, sabotage us and even persecute us.

Brothers and sisters, have you ever been rejected by the world?  I recall that a classmate was cast out by his family because he accepted the Lord, and his father even disowned him.  With his faith under such tremendous persecution, we thought he was going to weaken and stumble, but instead his faith became even stronger, to the point of leading the whole family to accepting Jesus, hallelujah!  You might never have encountered such persecution, perhaps you were only ridiculed and laughed at by your classmates or coworkers; no matter how, as soon as we become Christians this world will abhor us, because we have become the sons of light, which the world cannot accept.

Should we just leave the world and live in seclusion?  The Lord said in verse 15: "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one."  Therefore, it's not the Lord's intention for us to leave this world, but rather the Lord had given us the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.  The Lord wants us to enter this world of darkness and live out the glorious testimony of Jesus Christ!  Praise the Lord!  Even though the Lord sent us out, we are not alone because the Lord will go with us.  The Lord is already victorious, and He also granted us the authority to be victorious, so that we may proclaim victory to the world!

Brothers and sisters, do you often feel that you are under attacks and temptations from the world?  The Lord wants to tell you: "Rest assured that I have overcome the world!"  The Lord will lead you to proclaim victory against the enemy!  Just look upon God and depend on God, and His joy will once again fill your heart!  In faith you must believe that even though the world may surround you it cannot devour you; the enemy can attack you, but it cannot overcome you, because you belong to Jesus Christ!  Therefore, do not be deceived or accused by the enemy again, stand up and proclaim victory against the enemy!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, we thank you because you are the Lord who leads us to proclaim victory!  May you continue to remind us that we will always belong to you.  May the Lord give us strength to bear glorious witness for you in this warped and crooked generation.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
