John 2: 5-8

His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."

In the beginning Jesus' mother told him: "They have no wine", she changed her attitude and surrendered willingly when she said: "Do whatever he tells you"; the Lord's time arrives when people are willing to surrender to the sovereignty of God. Jesus ordered his servants to fill the jars with water, then draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. Brothers and sisters, God is inactive because we have yet to surrender our attitudes before Him. God will work according to His wonderful will when we surrender all.

In addition, having no more wine was no longer a material issue to Mary when she said, "Do whatever he tells you"; because she firmly believed that Jesus would make the best arrangement under all circumstances. Brothers and sisters, do you believe God has the best plans for your lives? Although we often are willing to obey God, our hearts are filled with fears: Will God do things better than what we have in mind? Are God's ways better than ours? Are God's wills really better? When it all boils down, we do not know the road ahead is the reason that we find it so difficult to obey.

Someone once said: "The end of man is the beginning of God." But it is better to say: "The end of man is the trial of God." Can you trust God wholeheartedly when you are at the end of man? Can you really believe God's ways are above yours? God wills are above yours? Every juncture of life is a trial in itself. We can handle these things ourselves with increasingly bad results, or we are willing to surrender all these things in God's hands, allowing Him to work according to His will and sovereignty, finally bringing us the miracle of turning water into wine. May God help us make the right decisions, choosing to obey and follow God.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, thank you, because your ways are above ours, your wills are above ours. May God help us choose to obey you, and may you bring us the miracle of turning water into wine. Thank you and we pray in the victorious name of Jesus, Amen!
