Today's Passage - John 5:19-24

River of Life Christian Church ︳www.rolcc.net/english John 5:19-24   Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.  "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.   Why did Lord Jesus say: "whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life"?  There are three main reasons.  First, Lord Jesus said that the Son will do what the Father does.  Not only will Son do whatever Father did, verse 20 also says that "For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he did. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed."  What are the "greater works"?  Father God created the world, then He sent His Son to the world, and Lord Jesus Christ accomplished the work of redemption on the cross.  Father did not accomplish the work of salvation, but He sent the Son to the world for us; so, Jesus Christ is the Lord of Redemption, for He has the key to eternity.   On top of that, the second reason is that Jesus Christ could make people resurrect from death.  Not only that Jesus died for us, He also resurrected from death on the third day, and He has complete authority to overcome sin and death.  Because Jesus lives forever, those who believe in Him will enjoy eternal life.  In the same manner, when we accept Jesus as our savior, we are accepting His everlasting life to come into our life.  Even though our flesh will pass away, our soul will live forever, and in Jesus Christ we have the assurance of eternal life.   Third reason is what the Lord said: "Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son."  In other word, when the Lord comes again, He will judge us from the great white throne.  Those who accepted the Lord will have eternal life, and those who did not accept the Lord will fall into the burning lake of eternal death.  Jesus Christ is the master who will judge our life, that's why He said: "whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life."  We all need to make the same decision: Who are we going to follow in the journey of our life?  Are we following the world, or are we following the master who died and resurrected for us?  When we are willing to following the Lord who died and resurrected, our life will also die and be resurrected!  May God help us, let us closely follow the Lord who loves us and died for us in our daily life!              Pray with Pastor Tong           Lord, we thank you because you are the Lord who saved us, you are the Lord who died and resurrected, and you are also the Lord who will judge us in the final day!  Let us live for you with fear to that we may please you.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
