Ephesians 6:8-9
"...Because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him."
There is no favoritism with the Lord. He is the God that sees what is done in secret and rewards in pubic. We always complain about dishonest people being successful around us. Actually no complaint is necessary. The most important thing is that you keep honest. Psalm 37:8 puts it in a good way: "Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it leads only to evil". Other people may have done evil first, but when your anger, wrath and fretting lead you to evil, you will become no different than the people you criticize.
Pastor Spurgeon once said: "You don't have to promote your talent and advertise your skill. Those who recognize your value will fight over you, as long as you don't just stay mediocre. Never can a small bowl block the light from a big candle, true talent will eventually reveal itself. As long as you do your best, when the time comes, God will surely make a way for you. God is the best one that knows how to lift one up." Joseph in Exodus had lots of sufferings in his life. He was sold to Egypt by his own brothers. He was put in jail because the wife of his master framed him. He was deserted by his close friend in jail with no end in sight. But in each circumstance Joseph sought God's presence and performed his duty, so God made everything he did successful. Eventually he was promoted by the Egyptian pharaoh to be the prime minister. When God's time comes, he will show His faithfulness and love to you and me.
We always see ourselves as to be defined by the success or failure at this moment, so we would feel proud in our success but discouraged in our failure. Instead, God judges us by how moldable we are to become someone after His heart. When David was hiding in the cave of Adullam, or pretending to be insane before the Philistines, what a low point of life he saw himself in. But when he chose to trust in God and told his heart to praise the Lord again and again, he started to review his whole life from the perspective of God's throne. God is always his deliverer, and He calls him one that is after His heart. So don't be discouraged. Just believe God is still sitting on His throne in all circumstances. He still cares for each and every of His children. Do you believe that the Lord avenges, and the Lord provides. Do you know that God is not only the Lord of your life, but also the Lord during the process? His sight will never move away from you and His arms will never be too short. There is no favoritism with the Lord!
