1 John 5:6-8

"This is the one who came by water and blood - Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: theSpirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement."

John mentioned here that there are three that testify for Jesus: the Spirit, the water and the blood. The first one that testifies for the Lord is the water, which stands for God's Word. When Jesus came to this world, the Word become flesh. If we didn't understand God's Word when we read it, now we can understand because we are in Jesus Christ. Therefore, John said in John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." On Jesus we can see the testimony of the Word becoming flesh. Not only the Old Testament, but also the New Testament were written for Him. He himself is the Word of God. Every time we read the Word of God, we are not just reading something in black and white, but also Jesus Christ. We are taking in the bread for our spiritual life. So the more you read the Scripture, the more your spiritual life grows. May God help us understand his will when we read the Scripture.

The second one that testifies is the blood, which stands for Jesus sacrificing his life for us on the cross to purify us of all the sins and healing all the wounds deep in our heart, so that our life can be connected to the one of the Lord. The Bible says: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" Only the precious blood of the Lord can still cleanse us and purify us of all our sins today, so that we can have a brand new start of our life just like a blank piece of paper.

The third one that testifies is the Spirit, who is to testify for the God that was resurrected from the dead. When Jesus was on earth, his work was closely related to the Spirit. His birth and the miracles he performed were all due to the anointing and the presence of the Spirit. When he preached, he did so with the authority of the Spirit. His resurrection from the dead was also done by the mighty power of the Spirit. Now the Spirit is also the God that lives inside our heart. There is none of our sorrows that He doesn't know. There is none of our difficulties that He cannot carry. The Spirit that testifies for the Lord's resurrection from the dead will also bring the resurrecting power inside us today, so that we can be set free from the power of the darkness.

Pray with Pastor Tong Liu

Lord, we thank you, for you not only became flesh for us, you also died on the cross for us. Not only you died, you were also resurrected to manifest with power that you are the Son of God. We welcome you into our life again to manifest the resurrecting power. We thank you and we pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
