Psalm 18:37-45

I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed. I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet. You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me. You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes. They cried for help, but there was no one to save them - to the Lord, but he did not answer...

Our God is indeed a great and awesome God, and He's also God who leads u to proclaim victory against the enemy every day. Not only does He save us from the hands of the enemy, He also gives us the authority and strength to pursue the enemies, and actually destroy them! We must understand that in Christ our position is truly precious. Ephesians chapter one says that we are sitting on the throne with Christ, which means we together with Christ have the authority of the king. When we reign with Christ, we have the authority to overcome the attacks of devil Satan. No matter how vicious the attacks of the enemies are, we have the power to break their attacks, purse them and even destroy them, Hallelujah!

Not only does God make the enemies flee before us, He will also personally destroy all the ploys of the enemy Satan. Therefore, we can bring all our needs before Him without any fear, look upon Him and depend on Him. Our God will make way for us according to the authority on His hands.

Brothers and sisters, have you encountered any kind of difficulties? Do you feel that you need God's help? We often feel that we are weak and we need help, but have forgotten that we are already sitting on the throne with the Lord! Actually, you don't need God's help now, but you need to exercise the authority that God has given you! Let us exercise the authority that God has given us to rebuke the enemy in our daily life. Let us praise God and lift Him high, and enjoy the authority of victory that God has given to us, and let us proclaim victory in God against the enemies each and every day!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I once again thank you and praise you, because you are a faithful and trustworthy God who leads us into victory against the enemies every day. May you help us be determined to follow you each and every day so that we may truly experience the abundance in you. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!

Psalm 18:28-36

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord?  And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights...

When we are in distress, feeling like trapped within four walls and cannot see any way out, we must cry out to seek help from the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is the light inside our life, and it can light up the light of life. In the war movies, there are many scenes in the darkness, where the enemies and the way out are invisible; when the army fires an incandescent bomb and it explodes, however, the sky is lit and you can see the way out and exactly where the enemies are. In the same way, when our lives are filled with darkness, we must cry out to the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit will work like an incandescent bomb, as verse 28 says "You, Lord, keep my lamp burning." When the lamp is lit, even though you thought there's no way out, you'll suddenly see a path, maybe a narrow hallway, that you can go through.

When Holy Spirit shines upon you, you will see the way out, and by the power of Holy Spirit you can charge into the enemy, and by the power of God you can jump over barricades. Holy Spirit is out help and also our comfort, hallelujah! "It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure," so let us cry out to Him, lift Him high, and praise Him! We need the work of Holy Spirit and the power that He grants us.

Verse 33 says that "He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights." It's like when a kid plays a video game, with only one life remain, and suddenly he receives a bonus life. Suddenly the kid is recharged; even though there's only one last life left, but it's like he's protected by lightening. He can charge forward quickly and no one can block him! This is how I feel when I read this passage - God can make our feet like the feed of a deer, just like when we receive a bonus life in a game, and He will make us stand on the heights! Are you trapped in the darkness? Don't be frustrated and despaired, but look upon the Lord! Cry out to Him and He will save you!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I thank you because you are our light, our strength and our help. May you once again reveal your power and authority to us today, and help us to jump over walls and overcome the enemies. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!

Psalm 18:16-27

He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I am not guilty of turning from my God. All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees. I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin...

God is the support of our lives, and before Him we can be completely fearless because He will reward us for what our hands did. There's one condition though - We must be blameless before God. Verse 21 says: "For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I am not guilty of turning from my God." It's important in our faith to obey God's word. When we are in distress, we would cry out to God, eager for Him to answer our prayer and save us. We, however, seldom recall that in order for our prayers to be answered, it's both from the mercy of God and also obedience to His word by us. May God give us courage and a willing heart, let us follow Him in our daily life.

It's mentioned several times in the Bible that we not only should listen to the word, but also follow the word. Jesus preached the parable of a wise man building a house on the rock and a foolish man building a house on the sand. When rain comes down, flood lands and wind blows, the house of the wise man will not collapse, but the foolish man's house completely collapsed. No matter what, both wise man and foolish man will inevitable encounter rain, flood and wind in their lives; in other word, we will surely encounter storms in our lives. God has never exempted us from turmoil or promised us all things will go smoothly forever. Even in the midst of storms, as long as we obey God's word, our life is on solid foundation and will be unshakable. If we, however, do not obey God's word, the foundation will collapse easily.

When we follow God's word, not only will we receive God's reward, we will also please God, because God is pleased with those who obey His word. May God help us, let us learn to be blameless; in our daily life, let us proclaim that God is our support!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Dear Lord, we thank you because you are the support of our life. May the Lord help us to not only depend on you in our heart, but to obey your word, so that your will may be manifested in our life. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!

Psalm 18:4-15

The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry...

Not only does God rule over all things in the universe, our lives are also in His hands. Verse six says that "In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help." Have you ever called to God in distress? Sometimes we might question whether God has heard our prayer, but actually God has already heard your cry, and He's able to save us! This scripture passage says many times that God can scatter the enemy and defeat any work of the enemy! Let us look upon Him by faith, because God will save us when we are in distress.

The distress in this passage is like bondage of the authority of death. When you are entangled by the cords of death, you feel like you can't be freed from it and there's no way out. Distress is also like a rapid current; when you are in a rapid, you will be swept away by water and you won't be able to save yourself. Not only do we encounter distress in our circumstance in life, it might even be our life in danger, especially bondage of illness or attack by the enemy, and sometimes we don't even have the hope to live on. Even if you are in distress, God will still listen to your prayer, and He'll be happy to extend His arms to save you! God not only listens to our prayer, He is also the true God who rules all things in the universe. Just like how Jesus could calm the storm when He was on earth, God can also calm the calamities in your life! Come and depend on Him and look upon Him, for He is still our salvation.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I especially pray for the brothers and sisters who are bound by the authority of death. In the victorious name of Jesus Christ I rebuke the authority of death and attack by the enemy. May you release everyone from the bondage of sin, and because you are already victorious you will personally calm the calamities in their lives. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!

Psalm 18:1-3

I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.

The second verse says "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." The whole verse points to the fact that we can depend on God. When you are in distress and have nowhere to hide, let us seek refuse in The Lord and depend on His almighty arms. When we are in hardship, we would think real hard and try all possible ways to solve our problems, but we might forget the most important thing, which is to depend on the Lord!

Verse three says "I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies." In order to be saved from the hands of the enemy, we must call to the Lord who's worthy of praise. In other word, the more difficult the circumstance is, the more we must praise the Lord out loud. We must proclaim out loud by faith: "The Lord is my refuse in distress, and He's the true God who sits on the throne. He can still make way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The enemy will flee away because we are standing on the foundation of the precious blood of Jesus!" As soon as you call to the Lord who's worthy of praise, God will do His work. If you study the history from the books of Chronicles, you'll see that whenever the Israelites were attacked by enemies, they would shout out praises. When they praise God loudly, God would send the angels and heavenly army to cast out all the enemies! May God help us to see this secret of spiritual victory, which is the call to the Lord who's worthy to be praised whenever we are in hardship!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I thank you because you fight for Israel, and you prepare a table before the enemy. Let us proclaim by faith that you are still in control and sitting on the throne in our lives. May all the glory to you! I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!

Psalms 17:8-15

...Hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance. They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground. They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a fierce lion crouching in cover. Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down; with your sword rescue me from the wicked. By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones. As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

David calls people in the world "those of this world whose reward is in this life." Indeed, people of the world only chase reward in front of their eyes, but the fact is that all things we consider as precious in the world will eventually pass away. It's great to have treasures of the world, but they will not satisfy our soul. Many things, like love, inner satisfaction, sound sleep, etc., cannot be bought or exchanged with money. People often set our eyes on things on the outside, or even putting hope in children. If you are putting all your hope in your children, then one day you will suffer great defeat and hurt, because your children will be independent and they want to take on their own way. I've also seen many people who put their hope in their career or family. Brothers, if you put your hope solely on career, then you will be disappointed when economy is suffering downturn. Sisters, if you put your hope solely on family, then you will find that your husband and children won't always be as tender and caring as you wish. When we put our hope in the world, we will eventually be disappointed.

Verse 15 says: "As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness." David said very clearly that the Lord alone can truly satisfy us and the Lord alone is our answer. Our hope should not be in the family or career, nor the treasures, but rather to put our hope in the Lord. Our Lord is same yesterday, today and forever, for He alone lives forever! May the Spirit of the Lord help us to once again shift our eyesight to God. Let us once again depend on Him and be close to Him, because He alone has answers and He brings meaning for our life!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, you alone are the satisfaction and joy to our souls. If we have been far away from you, may you let turn back to you; if we have suffered because we lost any treasure, family or career, may you comfort our souls. Let us once again depend on you by faith and follow you with an obedient heart. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
