Psalm 18:4-15

The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry...

Not only does God rule over all things in the universe, our lives are also in His hands. Verse six says that "In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help." Have you ever called to God in distress? Sometimes we might question whether God has heard our prayer, but actually God has already heard your cry, and He's able to save us! This scripture passage says many times that God can scatter the enemy and defeat any work of the enemy! Let us look upon Him by faith, because God will save us when we are in distress.

The distress in this passage is like bondage of the authority of death. When you are entangled by the cords of death, you feel like you can't be freed from it and there's no way out. Distress is also like a rapid current; when you are in a rapid, you will be swept away by water and you won't be able to save yourself. Not only do we encounter distress in our circumstance in life, it might even be our life in danger, especially bondage of illness or attack by the enemy, and sometimes we don't even have the hope to live on. Even if you are in distress, God will still listen to your prayer, and He'll be happy to extend His arms to save you! God not only listens to our prayer, He is also the true God who rules all things in the universe. Just like how Jesus could calm the storm when He was on earth, God can also calm the calamities in your life! Come and depend on Him and look upon Him, for He is still our salvation.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I especially pray for the brothers and sisters who are bound by the authority of death. In the victorious name of Jesus Christ I rebuke the authority of death and attack by the enemy. May you release everyone from the bondage of sin, and because you are already victorious you will personally calm the calamities in their lives. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
