Psalm 18:28-36

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord?  And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights...

When we are in distress, feeling like trapped within four walls and cannot see any way out, we must cry out to seek help from the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is the light inside our life, and it can light up the light of life. In the war movies, there are many scenes in the darkness, where the enemies and the way out are invisible; when the army fires an incandescent bomb and it explodes, however, the sky is lit and you can see the way out and exactly where the enemies are. In the same way, when our lives are filled with darkness, we must cry out to the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit will work like an incandescent bomb, as verse 28 says "You, Lord, keep my lamp burning." When the lamp is lit, even though you thought there's no way out, you'll suddenly see a path, maybe a narrow hallway, that you can go through.

When Holy Spirit shines upon you, you will see the way out, and by the power of Holy Spirit you can charge into the enemy, and by the power of God you can jump over barricades. Holy Spirit is out help and also our comfort, hallelujah! "It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure," so let us cry out to Him, lift Him high, and praise Him! We need the work of Holy Spirit and the power that He grants us.

Verse 33 says that "He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights." It's like when a kid plays a video game, with only one life remain, and suddenly he receives a bonus life. Suddenly the kid is recharged; even though there's only one last life left, but it's like he's protected by lightening. He can charge forward quickly and no one can block him! This is how I feel when I read this passage - God can make our feet like the feed of a deer, just like when we receive a bonus life in a game, and He will make us stand on the heights! Are you trapped in the darkness? Don't be frustrated and despaired, but look upon the Lord! Cry out to Him and He will save you!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I thank you because you are our light, our strength and our help. May you once again reveal your power and authority to us today, and help us to jump over walls and overcome the enemies. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
