Jude 17-21
But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." ...But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
In this passage, Jude was rebuking those who were ungodly, and at the same time encouraging those in the Lord to come before God and manifest glorious testimonies for God in the end times. Jude mentioned three ways here. First, we must edify ourselves in truth. How should we do it? We must begin with reading God's word daily. The Bible says that God's word is the food of our life. If you don't eat for two days, your body will be weakened; if we don't read God's word, our spirit and soul are weakened and we will stumble and fall easily when enemy Satan tempts us. As it is said in Psalms: "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." When we God's word is hidden inside us, we may defend ourselves against devil Satan.
Second, we need to learn to pray in the Holy Spirit, to pray according to God's will and the guidance of Holy Spirit. When you pray, you need to quiet down to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, ask Him what He wants you to pray for. Holy Spirit will guide you and reveal what you need to pray for. Then, ask the Holy Spirit how to pray for these things. In other word, don't pray according to your thoughts or burden, but follow the guidance of Holy Spirit to know what to pray for and how to pray for them. When are you willing to obey the will of Holy Spirit, you'll notice that your prayer life has changed. You no longer pray just to go through the motion, but you will careful listen to the voice and guidance of Holy Spirit before God. Holy Spirit loves to speak to us and guide us each and every day; as soon as you give Him the opportunity, you will experience the explosive power that comes with praying in the Holy Spirit.
Third, we must keep ourselves in God's love. What should we do? First of all, keep the unity in love and love all our brothers and sisters, because the Bible says that's how others will recognize we are disciples of the Lord. Also, we need to ask God to give us mercy to love those around us who don't yet know God, and bring the salvation and love of Jesus to them.
May God help you and I to edify ourselves in truth, pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep ourselves in God's love, and that is the ultimate attitude to live in the end times.
