Matthew 19:13-15
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
Some people brought children to see Jesus, and they were rebuked by the disciples. They thought that children were not important, and Jesus was already so busy that He couldn't possibly have time to waste on the children. People like to judge others by their own nature; we think some people are more important and others are less important, and some things are more important than others. We often treat different people with different rules.
Book of James says that James rebuked the church at the time, saying that "...you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, 'Here's a good seat for you,' but say to the poor man, 'You stand there' or 'Sit on the floor by my feet...'" The Lord, however, looks at us in a different way; He's filled with mercy, He cares about everyone's need and He values everyone. The Bible tells us once and again that the Lord remembers each humble person and treats everyone impartially. The Lord particularly liked children and would lay hands to pray for them. When these children went before Jesus, the Lord had mercy on them; when they asked the Lord to lay hands on them, Jesus was more than willing to do so.
The Lord is willing to spend time with anyone in need. There was a leper who went to Jesus; he was bashful because he didn't think he was worthy. He said: "If you are willing, you can make me clean." When he said this, he thought Jesus was probably not going to lay hands on him. Surprisingly, the Lord said "I am willing... Be clean!" It's hard to imagine how the leper reacted! Brothers and sisters, when you come before Jesus, the Lord is happy to be closer to you, heal you and help you. Sometime we feel that we are not worthy, but the Lord is more than happy to spend time to be closer to us, and He will help us according to our need. When these people brought children to Jesus and sought for His blessings, it was a pretty minor thing and Jesus didn't have to pray for them; however, the Lord still satisfied their needs. When you come before God, do you also have such great faith? Even if you bring your most trivial need before Jesus, the Lord will never reject you; He will bless you and pray for you!
