Colossians 3:24-25

...since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.

Hallelujah!  There is no favoritism in the Lord!  He observes in secret and He rewards openly.  We often complain about how the wicked people are doing so well, but that is unnecessary because more important thing is that you don't become another wicked person.  Psalm 37:8 says that "Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret-it leads only to evil."  If you do something evil to the wicked people because you witnessed injustice caused by them, then you are no different from them.

Reverent Spurgeon said this: "There is no need to go around selling yourself and advertise your talents, because real talent will be sought after and we just need to make sure we are not second-class talent.  A little funnel cannot cover a big candle, and in the same way real talent will be revealed.  As long as you keep on trying your best, God will open doors for you when the time comes, for He is the best talent scout!"   The example of Joseph best illustrates the miraculous work in God's hands.   Joseph had a tumultuous life, as he was sold to Egypt by his brothers, falsely accused by his master's wife, then forsaken by his jail mate, consequently he was indefinitely detained in prison.  Joseph, however, sought God's presence in every difficult circumstance, faithfully performed his duties, and God made all the work assigned to him successful.  He eventually was released from prison by Pharaoh and was put in charge of the land of Egypt.  When God's time comes, His faithfulness and love will be manifested in you and me.

As we look at ourselves, we often see success or failure at the moment.  Therefore, when we succeed we are conceited, and when we fail we become frustrated.  God looks at us, however, in entirety, for He wants to shape us to please to Him through our whole life.  When David was hiding in the cave of Adullam and pretended to be mad before the Philistines, his life was truly depressing.  He, however, continuously chose to depend on God and told himself that "my heart, you will praise Jehovah," and God ultimately saved him and also called him a "man after His own heart."  So, don't be discouraged and disappointed, just trust that God is on the throne in every circumstance and difficulty, trust that God will take care of all His children, and trust that the Lord will bring forth justice and provide all your need.

Do you have such assurance?  Do you know that God is not only the Lord of life, but also Lord of every step in life?  His eyes never overlooked you and His arms never withdrew from you, for there is no favoritism in the Lord.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord Jesus, I thank you because you do not show favoritism.  No matter how we see ourselves before you, whether we are lamb that's fat, strong, skinny or weak, you will always guide us with your skillful hands.  Please open our eyes so that we see you sitting on the throne in charge of the process of our life.  Let us look upon you with faith because you will fulfill your purpose in my life.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
