John 14: 18-20

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live......

The Lord said, "Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me." Here it refers to the opening of the disciples' eyes due to indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Before the coming of the Holy Spirit, the disciples did not quite understand the word of the Lord and His work. When the lord talked about the spiritual kingdom, they thought it was the worldly kingdom; when the Lord talked about eternal life, they thought it was the present life. Neither did they understand the lord's suffering, nor his victories. But the Lord said here, "Before long, the Holy Spirit will come upon you, you would no longer see me with your physical eyes, but rather you would begin to see me with the eyes of faith, then you'll see the glorious, resurrected Lord that sits on the throne."

Do you get to know Jesus with your physical eyes or by faith? Paul said in 2 Cor. 5:16, "So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer." If we regarded Christ only from a worldly point of view, then He was just a historical figure, a Savior that sacrificed himself for man, even as he proclaimed himself as the son of God, arisen from dead, but he would not matter much to us. When the Holy Spirit came to our heart, however, and opened our spiritual eyes in regard to Jesus, we'll discover: Jesus is here for me! He so loves me, even to go on the cross for me, such that I can walk with Him every day.

Suddenly the relationship between the Lord and us are no longer the same, from "He is Lord" to "You are Lord", it's a direct relationship. God, help us with point of view through faith with regard to Christ, once you come before the Lord in faith, you'll have the courage to face the difficult circumstances, and you'll have the hope to wait for God's promises. I really like how Heb. 12:27 describe the life of Moses: "He persevered because he saw him who is invisible." By faith Moses saw God parting the Red Sea, and he saw the Lord preparing the manna for them in the wilderness, also leading them to victories in their fight against the Amalekites. He also saw the Lord avenging the wrongs before the Israelites, even by faith seeing the Lord leading the Israelites into Canaan!

Do you see this true living God still sitting on the throne? The Bible says yesterday, today, till forever, Jesus Christ never change! He is this wonderful savior, but you must open your spiritual eyes to see. How do you open your spiritual eyes? It's very simple! Welcome the work of the Holy Spirit! Your eyes can see through all things and to know God's will and His work only when the Holy Spirit can move freely in your heart!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, please open the eyes of our hearts, let us not regard you with looks and reasons, that we can see your presence and sovereignty in every circumstance, and become the power of our daily lives. Thank you and we pray in the victorious name of Jesus, Amen!
