Luke 2:36-40

"There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying..."

Anna longed for God, and she also waited upon God.  Sisters in the Lord were important in the Bible, and that reminds us we cannot neglect the role of sisters before God.  It is common at churches to degrade the sisters.  Sisters can do perform many different tasks, but not preaching; some churches specifically do not allow sisters to preach to brothers.  Anna gave us a great example of how God can use sisters to accomplish His eternal plan.

In the church of Reverent Yong-Gi Cho, they experienced a period of growth and they had a hard time finding cell group leaders.  He prayed before God and asked: "Lord, please give us more coworkers!"  Suddenly a voice came to him and said, why don't you use the sisters?  His first reaction was that the voice must have come from an "American devil" because that would be impossible in Korean culture.  Spirit of God reminded him again: Who gave birth to the Lord?  It was through a woman!  When Lord Jesus was in the world, where did he like to go the most?  The home of Mary Magdalene, who's also a sister!  When the Lord passed away, who went to anoint Him and stood under the cross from beginning to end?  When all the disciples ran away, only the faithful sisters followed Jesus!  The resurrected Lord first revealed herself to Mary, who's also a woman!  Spirit of God suddenly opened the heart of Reverent Cho: if women are so important in the Bible, and they were so close to Lord Jesus, then why was he overlooking their role?  Since then, he's been using sisters as cell group leaders, and his church continued to grow into a huge congregation.  Engaging the sisters will bring breakthrough in ministry.  May the Lord help us, never neglect the ministry of sisters before God, and let everyone collaborate in one accord to expand the Kingdom of God.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I thank you because through the ministry of Anna, we see that you truly value the sisters.  Lord, please bless every sister who's reading this message so that they would be encouraged.  In their everyday life, make them willing to serve you because they see your grace on them, and help them to serve you faithfully no matter how the circumstance changes.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
