Today's Passage - Acts 28:7-15

Acts 28:7-15

There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and for three days entertained us hospitably.  His father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him and, after prayer, placed his hands on him and healed him.  When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured.  They honored us in many ways and when we were ready to sail, they furnished us with the supplies we needed....

No matter where Paul went, he brought with him the power to shake things up, even on this island.  Shortly after he arrived, he was bitten by a snake beside the fire.  The locals thought that he must be a major sinner who, despite of being saved from the sea, was destined to be punished by death.  Paul, however, shook off the snake and continued to feast with them.  The locals immediately thought that Paul must be a god.  This incident had shook the island, but the locals were even more astonished when Paul went into the tribe and healed the father of the chief official.  Everyone on the island who was sick came and asked Paul to lay hand on them and pray for healing.  Paul didn't turn anyone down and he laid hand and prayed for each of them, and they were healed.  They had tremendous respect and love for Paul, so before the ship set sail they loaded the ship with supplies that they needed.

We all need the same anointing that Paul had.  We need the Lord's love, mercy and power to spread the gospel because they are all critical in serving God.  People of the world need to see miracles so that they will hunger for God, and they also need to be touched by God's love and mercy.  Once they understand the profoundness of God's love, their hearts will turn back to God.  In our spiritual journey, let us not just pay lip service about our faith or to envy what others have.  Throughout generations, many servants of God ministered to people with God's love as well as His love and mercy.  Wherever they go, diseases are healed and people are touched by God, and their hearts will naturally turn back to God.

May God help us, give us a heart that seeks God and let us give ourselves to Him wholeheartedly to become vessels in His hands.  Let us seek and thirst for the Lord, so that we will have His mercy and love, and His power will be manifested through us.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, in this day and age, we need your love and mercy, and also need your power.  Please give such anointing to the brothers and sisters, and give us the determination of Paul to manifest your love and power, so that the hearts of people will turn back to you.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
