Today's Passage - Hebrews 10:21-23

Hebrews 10:21-23

...And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

What should be the attitude of someone who comes before God?  First, it should be an attitude of sincerity, being truthful from the heart and soul.  Gospel of John chapter four says that "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."  When we come before God, our worship and everything else we do must come from inside us.  Many of those who worship idols seem to do it sincerely, some even kneel and bow on the ground as they approach the temple, but many Christians don't seem to take worshiping the true God very seriously from deep down inside.  When you come before God, are your words truthful?  Is your heard truthful?  Are you speaking what you truly believe in?  We will never be able to deceive God, because God already knows us inside-out.

Second, we must have full assurance in faith.  The Bible says that "...without faith it is impossible to please God."  Since we have received God's salvation, we will also receive grace upon grace from Him.  Not only that we have faith in God, we shall also have faith that "He rewards those who earnestly seek him."  We must trust that God will give us all His grace because of our faith.  In the Book of Ephesians, Paul said that we have died with Christ and we've resurrected with Him, and now we're sitting on the throne with Him.  It's all because we are in Jesus Christ.  This is a spiritual mystery, but also a spiritual reality.  We're sitting in the heaven with the Lord today, and God can "do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us."

We must trust that God can accomplish all things.  Even though we are weak and we might fail, God will still come out victorious.  Even if we stumble and fall, He will still lift us up.  Not only will He restore what we have lost, God will also give us double portion of blessings.  In the example of Peter's failure, not only did the Lord restore him, God also made Peter into one who can strengthen other brothers.  We must come before God with sufficient faith, because He's a faithful God who'd never lie.  Each of His words carries power, and no word was said in vain.  When we come before God with sincerity and faith, we can trust that God will accomplish all His promises in our life according to His glorious riches.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, I thank you because you are a faithful God.  Help us to come before you with a sincere heart and full assurance in faith, and help us to live for you and run for you each and every day with the strength that you will give us.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
