Matthew 27:57-66
As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb...
First and foremost, this is the Joseph who was hoping for the coming of God's kingdom. He not only hoped for it on Sundays, or when he prayed, but the hope for kingdom of God was always on his mind. Because he always hoped for God's kingdom, he really cared about matters concerning the kingdom. It's like someone who follows a soap opera, for they must watch the soap opera daily. Those who are used by God must be the ones who's thoughts and mind are constantly on God, for he will naturally do things that God wants him to do. He doesn't have to purposely do things to please God, but rather he'll automatically walk in God's will, because what on his mind is same as what's in God's will. In the past few years, my spirit has been revived by God, so my thoughts and mind are preoccupied by the work of God all over the world. I often go listen to and witness God's work, and I naturally long for His work to happen. Therefore, God's will came into me and became part of my thoughts.
Next, because Joseph was hoping for God's kingdom, what he did also made God's word come true. Regarding the burial of Jesus, Isaiah 53:9 says that "He was assigned a grave with the wicked." Who could ever imagine that this passage will come true? When Jesus on earth, He was so poor that He didn't have to pay tax, and He spent most of His time with the poor and didn't make too many rich friends. Actually, this Joseph never even followed Jesus. From human perspective, their relationship didn't really compel Joseph to help collecting the body of Jesus; however, everything is in God's hand and in God nothing is impossible! No matter how difficult it is for us to imagine, God can really use His skillful hands and His zeal to accomplish this.
Brothers and sisters, are there things in your life that you can't imagine how they can be accomplished? God has His own way and His timing. When the Israelites were crossing the Red Sea, they didn't think there's any way out; however, God's way actually lied in the deep sea. When you encounter any difficult, bring them before the Lord, and He can accomplish it more than all we ask or imagine!
