Psalm 45:1-7

My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever. Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

The psalm was written for Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the anointed one, for God anointed Him with the oil of joy. When Lord Jesus Christ came out to serve God, He clearly said that God anointed Him so that He had the power to preach the gospel to the poor. Jesus Christ accomplished the great work of salvation for us in this world, and now His throne is up high in the sky and it will endure forever. Generation by generation we've seen kingdoms of men rise and fall, but only the throne of God last forever and never changes.

The kingdom of Babylon was tremendously powerful, but it still ended up perished; in the New Testament time, when Jesus Christ was on earth, the empire of Rome severely persecuted Christians, but Roman Empire has now become history. Throughout human history there was much authority of darkness, including the church during the Dark Age, but all these things eventually passed. God is still in control, His righteousness and love still rule! When we are living on earth, we must look upon Lord Jesus Christ, because only He is the Lord who has all the authority. We want to once again exalt Jesus, because everything in the world and of the world will pass away, but those who obey the word of the Lord will endure forever, hallelujah! Let us life Him high alone and trust in Him, because those who trust in Him shall not be put to shame!

Brothers and sisters, no matter what kind of hardship and circumstance you are encountering, may God allow us to have such view of the kingdom. Let us offer ourselves to the kingdom of God so that our life would have true meaning, otherwise everything is just temporary and everything will pass away, no matter how hard we work on it. Your investments will keep forever only if you are investing in the eternal kingdom of God. That's why verse one says that "My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king," because doing something for the Lord will last forever. May the Lord help us to not just think about this present life when we are on earth and not just worry and keep ourselves busy with matters of this life. Let us invest in matters that last eternally, offer ourselves to the kingdom of God, so that God will receive glory because of us and His heart will be pleased!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, your throne will last forever and your kingdom is forever righteous! May you accept our offerings, let us truly understand that everything in this world will pass away and only those who follow your will may endure forever. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
