John 1 : 29-31

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, " Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"

When John saw Jesus coming towards him, he made a profound proclamation: "Look, the Lamb of the God who takes away the sins of the world".  Why did he said Jesus was the Lamb of God?  In fact, when John called Jesus as the Lamb of God, he actually referred to what the Feast of Passover   symbolized in the Old Testament.  When the Israelites were slaves in Egypt, God sent Moses to deliver them out of Egypt.  But yet Pharaoh's heart was hardened and would not allow the Israelites to leave  Egypt to serve their God.   God, therefore, struck Egypt with plagues. When the tenth plague was bestowed, God sent His angel of death and took the lives of all the first-borns, both human and  animals , in this land.

How can we avoid this judgment? God instructed the Israelites to smear the blood of a slaughtered lamb around the doorframes that night.  Upon seeing the blood on the door frames, the angel of death would pass by without killing the first-borns.  If there is no blood on the doorframes, the lives of the first born would be taken.  Therefore, the blood of the Lamb of Passover symbolized the salvation accomplished by Jesus on the cross.  Likewise, we should be condemned by God because of our sins, but instead   our sins have been covered by the blood of Jesus Christ.   God's condemnation will  no longer fall upon us.

Brothers and sisters, this is the grace of our God!  Whenever we see Jesus, we think immediately of Jesus Christ as the work of God's salvation.  In Him, all our sins are forgiven, our spirits are set free.  We are no longer under the bondage of sin and darkness.  No matter how deep our inequities are, even to a point of beyond redemption, all our sins are forgiven as  it is clearly stated in  1 John 1:9 : "If we confess our sins,  he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."  As we come before God and confess our sins, the grace is upon us not only  at the time when we were saved, but  this grace accompanies us  every day of  our lives.  If you come to God through faith today, you  can fully enjoy this complete salvation   manifested in you.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Dear Lord, we thank you because you are the Lamb of Passover who takes away the sins of all people.  We are able to come before you without fear,  receive this new grace from you as our help in all times.  With thanksgiving we pray, in the name of  victorious name Jesus, Amen!
