John 16: 31-33

"....... I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

The Lord says, "In this world you will have trouble," are you surprised when you hear these words? God has made no promise that we'll have peace in this world, but pay attention as it says clearly to us here, this peace is not necessarily the peace in this world, but the peace in the Lord. Sometimes we will have trouble in this world, sometimes they come from our sins: when you sin against God, you lost your peace; if you sin against man, the fractured relationships would often mire you in misery. Some troubles come from the situations, because they are beyond our control most of the time, we often feel so in vain.

In addition, some troubles come from Satan's attack. Very often the enemies would deceive us, accuse us, such that we lost the peace within, and fell into anxiety and fear. Sometimes we even suffer for the sake of the Lord. When we witness for the Lord, the world will reject, fend us off, and even persecute us, so Paul said in Philippians 1:29, "For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him." Nevertheless, we have peace in the Lord, because the Lord has overcome the world.

The world mentioned here, is neither the earth nor the people, rather it refers to the power of darkness, sin and death behind the world. The Lord Jesus Christ has overcome the power of death on the cross, through His blood, now we can receive the peace from the forgiveness of sins. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." The Lord Jesus on the cross has demolished the power of the darkness; He will bring us the light! Whatever difficulties the situation puts us; we can trust in God to triumph over the enemies every day. Hallelujah!

Finally, the Lord Jesus Christ will destroy all things by Satan. We can rebuke them in the name of the Lord all the lies that attack and put fear in us, such that we can again enjoy the peace that set us free. Of course, we have peace in the Lord because the Lord is with us! Walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil, because the Lord's rod and staff will comfort us, what an amazing grace! Do you have peace in you? If not, you have to come before the Lord, think again the grace brought to you by the Lord on the cross, and receive in faith, to proclaim and to triumph over them! Ask the Lord to help us experience and enjoy His peace in our everyday life!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, thank you, because you have overcome such that we have peace and joy. In the victorious name of Jesus, may the Lord unshackle the bondage of anxiety and fear; give us the peace from sin forgiven, that we may find rest for our souls. We thank you and pray in the victorious name of Jesus, Amen!
