Today's Passage - Luke 4:38-44

Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her.  So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her...  But he said, 'I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.'"   Our Lord is the healer!  Healing is a forgotten subject in the church today.  When we talk about healing, we often refer to the healing of the spirit or the soul, but not healing of the body.  The reality is that our Lord loves to heal; when He was preaching on earth, He preached about God's Kingdom and also healed the sick.  Preaching and healing always go hand in hand, because healing gives people faith and validates God's word.  When the Lord sent the disciples out to preach the Gospel, He also asked them to preach the message of the Kingdom and to heal the sick.  In Matthew 28:19-20, the Lord asked us to "make disciples of all nations" and "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you," which is the message of God's Kingdom.  Mark 16:18 says that "they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well," which is about healing the sick.  Preaching and healing should go together, therefore we cannot neglect God's healing, for the Great Commission is two-fold - preaching the message of Kingdom of God and healing the sick.   Why did the Lord want to heal the sick?  It's because of His mercy.  When Jesus went to Simon's house and saw that his mother-in-law was sick, He reached out and laid hand on her, and she was healed.  Lord loves to spend intimate time with us and heal us, for He had said that the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.  Healing must originate from a merciful heart; when the merciful heart of the Lord is touched, His stream of healing will overflow, and it will heal all types of sickness.  It's not only one disease, but all diseases.   Nothing is impossible for God, and all you need to do is to trust Him.  Are you physically attacked by the bondage of any disease?  It might be the seasonal flu or the fever that Simon's mother-in-law got, but as long as you are willing to touch the Lord by faith, mercy of the Lord will touch you.  May the Spirit of the Lord help us, let our faith be established on the word and promises of God, and let us come before God.  Whenever we cry out to God for His mercy, His healing will come upon us.                Pray with Pastor Tong           Lord, I thank you because you are our healer.  I ask that you touch everyone with your mercy.  Give all brothers and sisters faith to believe that your promise is for all of them and you are glad to heal them.  I ask that you lay hands them, and in the victorious name of Jesus I rebuke all diseases.  May your power flow through their bodies to bring forth complete healing.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
