Today's Passage - Luke 12:22-26

Luke 12:22-26

Then Jesus said to his disciples: 'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?'

It is human nature to worry. When faced with uncertainties in the future, we are always filled to worries. There is a real problem if one doesn't worry about anything. Our attitude in dealing with worries, however, may bring different results.

The reason for people to accumulate wealth, search for security, moving kids to better school district, is for the treasure in the future. Sometimes it's difficult for Christians to tithe, and could it be because we are afraid that we don't have enough money for regular expenses? It's difficult to tithe because we are worried. May God have mercy on us to not let any worry to prevent us from learning to trust God.

The real question is not whether we should worry about tomorrow, but it's about who the Lord of your life is. Who is the keeper of everything in your life? Can you and I really have control over the uncertainties of tomorrow? All we can do is to do our best each and every day, including planning for the future, and entrust the results to God. We firmly believe that only He is the Lord of all things in the universe and life. We may have true peace after we entrust everything to Him.

Jesus said that no one can serve two masters; we either serve God or serve money, and there's no way in between. May God help us, let us live a God-centered life, and be delivered from all our worries. The deliverance will allow us to share with others, and we don't need to say "this is my house," "this is my car," but we're willing to say "this is God's house" and "this is God's car," and thus willing to share them. When others have needs, we don't just hold on to our wealth, but we do our best to help others, and to experience great freedom from it.

Dear Lord, may you bless all the brothers and sisters! May the Lord's Spirit delivered us from all the worries and bondages, and let our hearts once again turn back to you, and let your love flow out from us. When we see people around us in need, we will be happy to help them. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
