Luke 19:28-31

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.  As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 'Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.  If anyone asks you, "Why are you untying it?" tell him, "The Lord needs it."'

Whenever I think of this colt, I think about how much Christians resembles it.  There is only one purpose for the colt to be untied, and that is to be used by the Lord.  Similarly, Christians are untied, or delivered, from the bondage of sin so that we can be used by the Lord.  In the workplace, we bear witness for the Lord through our work; in the family, husbands love their wives and wives obey their husbands for the Lord; in the church, we do our best in everything to serve God.  In fact, the value of the colt is only manifested when he was used by the Lord and in the Lord's hand.  Apart from the Lord, his value won't be manifested.

I've read an essay named "the day after Palm Sunday."  The colt woke up after Palm Sunday, and he thought of all the joyful scenes from yesterday.  He lifted up his head and marched forward with pride, and he said: I am going to show myself to the people around the well!  Today, however, no one looked at the colt, and he got mad and said" Why don't you lay your clothes on the ground?  Don't you recognize who I am?  They looked at the colt with amazement, and some even threw stones at him.  He tried to escape from the stones and said: Fine, I'll go to the market instead, for there must be people there who'll recognize me.  The same thing, however, happened in the market as well.  He yelled for people to toss the palm branches, but no one did.  He was totally puzzled and returned to his mother's side.  His mother gently told him: My child, without Him, you can't do anything!

Many of God's servants who are used by Him mightily seem to possess many gifts, like preaching and praying; however, without the Lord, they can't do anything.  Don't underestimate yourself though, because you are not just a colt that has not been used; as long as you are willing to be used by God, He can use you to do mighty things.  For He is the ruler of the universe, so in Him nothing is impossible!

Lord, please help us to know to we are merely a colt in your hands; apart from you we cannot do anything, and our value is only manifested when we are in your hands.  Please encourage us to offer ourselves to you willingly, so that we can be used by you and to do mighty things for you.  Help us to offer ourselves in our daily life and to live for you.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
