John 10:30-39

"...Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.".......

Faith is truly from God! One cannot squeeze any faith out from one's own reasoning. The Jews gathered around Jesus Christ so long, they heard his words, and his work, but they were still in suspense, even asking Jesus in verse 24, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe." Many people saw Jesus, heard his words, but their hearts were hardened in disbelief, thus faith comes not from people, and faith is from God.

Many people want to believe in Jesus, but they cannot believe no matter how hard they try, because they don't know that faith is from God. We need to come before God, ask Him to grant us this faith. Just like the father of the demon-possessed son, he brought his son before Jesus Christ, hoping that Jesus will do miracle to free his son from his demon-possessed condition. Jesus Christ said to him, "If you believe, everything is possible for those who believe." This father felt his faith was lacking, so he answered, "Lord, I believe! But my faith is lacking, please help." It says in the original text, "I believe! But actually I don't have faith, please come and help us." Thus basically we lack faith, we need to come before God, ask God to grant us this faith.

When we have the faith from God, we can receive and obey His words. Brothers and sisters, do you have faith? Do you believe His words and His work? If you lack faith, not only you can ask God to grant you this faith, you can also ask Him to give you the faith to obey His words, because your faith will increase only if you obey His words. May God help us; the Christian life is always by faith, not by sight. If by sight, you'll find that you cannot take even one step, but by faith you'll find the ways that God opens for you are way beyond your eyes can see, your ears can hear, even exceeding what your heart can imagine! Let us rely fully on Him, trust Him, God can still do great things in our lives!

Lord, thank you, because you are the faith-giving God. So often we are weak, lacking in faith, may the Lord grant us faith, and courage to obey your words, such that our faith will continue to grow. We pray and give thanks to the victorious name of Jesus, Amen!
