Luke 8:46-51

"While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. 'Your daughter is dead,' he said. 'Don't bother the teacher any more.'  Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, 'Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.'  When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child's father and mother."

The devil often uses all types of schemes to prevent us from praying.  He tries hard to convince us in every way that prayer is ineffective.  The Lord, however, said to us here: "Don't be afraid, just believe."  In other words, the key of prayer is to be persistent by faith, and persistence is particularly important when is comes to praying for healing.  Many people like to ask: When we pray for the sick, how long do we need to pray for?  We've also heard that we shouldn't pray for any sick person at will unless we know for sure that God wants to heal the person.  The result of such statement is that most believers try to avoid praying for the sick.  Nowadays, I like to tell people that unless you know for sure that God is not going to heal the sick person, you should always be persistent in praying by faith!

Actually, there's a fine line between the two schools of thoughts.  One is that you shouldn't pray for the sick unless you know God will heal the person, and the other is that you should continue to pray until you know God will not heal.  The truth is that as long as God doesn't say He is not going to heal, we should continue to pray.  This passage is interesting because when the Lord entered the house of the synagogue ruler, He only brought Peter, John, James and the parents of the child with Him, but He didn't allow anyone else to enter.  The rest of them are those who didn't believe.  When we pray, we need to close all the doors of disbelief and doubt.  We should not allow the enemy to steal away the seeds of faith like birds.  On the other hand, we need to learn to be with those who have faith, so that your own faith will be stirred up to look upon God.

Lord said here: "Don't be afraid, just believe."  You need to believe that this is what God is telling you today: Child, don't be afraid, just believe.  No matter what your current situation is, just lift your eyes to look upon Him, because He is still sitting on the throne today and nothing is impossible in Him.  He will make way in your life as long as you bring all your needs before Him and pray by faith.  God will make way in His time according to His will.  Let us simply depend on Him and believe in Him!

Dear Lord, I thank you because you are always the one who supports us when we are down and weak.  Even when we have doubt, you still tell us "don't be afraid, just believe."  Please help the brothers and sisters who are in fear and worries, and in the victorious name of Jesus I rebuke all the worries and fear.  Give us faith that is genuine and fearless, so that we can firmly trust in you.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
