Luke 12:54-59
"He said to the crowd: 'When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, "It's going to rain," and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, "It's going to be hot," and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time? Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right?"
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees because they knew how to forecast weather, but they cannot distinguish God's timing. In other word, they don't know how to distinguish what's the will of God. Indeed, we often have much wisdom for things of the world. I used to study meteorology, and we often had weather forecast competition in our department. In the winter, it was difficult to predict whether it's going to snow or rain, because there is only a one-degree difference; however, there were some brilliant students in the department who always gets the prediction right. We may have in depth insight for many things, and we strive to understand things better, but we seldom have such eager heart for spiritual matters. Brothers and sisters, do you know God's will for this generation? If you want to know God's will, you first need to know the generation that we are currently in.
First of all, this is the time of harvest. Jesus once said to the disciples, didn't you say that there are four months to harvest? If you take a look at the field, the harvest is already ripe. Yes, God's harvest is ripe, so we need to go out and fight to win people to the Lord. Also, this is the time of danger. 1 Peter 5:8 says that "your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." The world is holding on to people of today in tight grip, people are busy but not knowing where they are heading towards. We ask the Holy Spirit to once again renew us, let us courageously dedicate ourselves, willing to follow God's way and not just walk on the path of the world.
Finally, this is the time for spiritual recovery. We can proclaim loudly that in Christ we have already won! What the enemies robbed from us before will be reclaimed through proclamation in Jesus Christ! May God give us an eager heart to simply come to seek Him.
