Luke 21:8-11

He replied: 'Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, "I am he," and, "The time is near."  Do not follow them.  When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.  Then he said to them: 'Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.'

Not only was Jesus prophesying in this passage about how Jerusalem would be surrounded, He was also talking about the upcoming great tribulation when the Lord comes again.  When Jesus returns, the anti-Christ will make its best effort to deceive people.  That why the Lord is calling us here to be cautious.  When the great tribulation comes, the situation will be terrifying, and God's people will be severely persecuted.

How do you know when the Great Tribulation is here?  First of all, in verse 8, the Lord said that there will be people coming out and say: "See, Christ is here!  Christ is there!"  But don't believe them, because all the false prophets and christs will arise.  Before the great tribulation comes, the voice of the false prophets will become louder and louder, and many will come in the name of the Lord.

As we look around us today, we have already heard many who prophesied the coming of Jesus Christ.  Evidently, although anti-Christ has not arrived yet, the spirit of anti-Christ is already moving around the world.  The time of the Lord is near, so we ask that the Lord help us not to be clueless believers, but to really understand will of the Lord.  Sometimes we might be busy and we might be blinded by our own thinking, and thus we may neglect the presence and work of God and miss our chance to abide by God's will.  May God give us a sober heart, let us understand God's will for our generation, and let us have obedient hearts so that we may live our daily life in God's will.

Lord, I thank you, because you have already told us about your return so that we may be prepared and won't be shocked and stunned when the time comes.  May the Spirit of the Lord prepare our heart to wait for your return anyways, and let us follow you closely in our daily life.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
