Psalm 10:1-9

...In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.  He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. His ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, "Nothing will ever shake me." He swears, "No one will ever do me harm." His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue. He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent. His eyes watch in secret for his victims; like a lion in cover he lies in wait. He lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.

This passage describes the wicked. First, he "boasts about the cravings of his heart." He thinks that he's capable and can accomplish things alone, thus doesn't need to depend on Jehovah. Second, he's proud and thinks there's no God, and he has control over everything. His eyes cannot see judgment of God. Third, his mouth is full of lies and threats and his heart is filled with arrogance; he doesn't have other people or God in his eyes, and he doesn't respect anyone. Fourth, he kills innocent people; not only does he degrade other people, he also oppresses them.

Today, many people do not depend on God in their hearts, but they depend on money, beauty and authority. When they don't depend on God and reject God, their relationship with God and with others are cut off. That's why the wicked ones are often filled with pain around his life and have lots of broken relationships. For Christians, we sometimes have the same mentality as the wicked, don't we? Even though we believe in the Lord, we also frequently experience broken relationships, not just with God but also with other people. If you and I have this mentality of the wicked, we need to ask the Lord for forgiveness, and we must repent and turn back to God. May the Lord shine upon us and examine our hearts, let us turn back to God from sin, because those who sin cannot stand before God. If we have sin in our hearts, God will not be pleased, so we must first turn back to Him.

Brothers and sisters, are we always complaining before God that the world is unjust and unfair, but we seldom think about how we are? Are we truly righteous before God? May God shine His light on us and let us turn back to Him again!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, may your Spirit examine our hearts to see whether we have any boastfulness, pride, wickedness and murderous thoughts against the innocent ones. May the Lord let us see our own sin and turn back to you. May you have mercy and forgiveness on us, and let us turn to you in your grace so that we may stand firm before you in judgment day. May the Lord's Spirit once again renew us and save us! I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
