Today's Passage - Psalm 39:1-7

Psalm 39:1-7

I said, "I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked." ... But now, Lord, what do I look for?  My hope is in you.

Do you feel that you constantly face injustice, or you are often bullied by bad people? May God help us to learn to be silent, not to use our mouth to attack others. Like it says here, we need to learn to keep our tongue from sin. We should never turn our mouth into one that insults others and complains, or let our heart fall into bitterness and grievance. Therefore, Psalm 4:23 say "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." If our heart is filled with bitterness and complaints, then the work of our hands will not be effective. May God help us to guard our hearts and to control our tongues, and let us not easily speak words that curse others.

James chapter three clearly says that one source of water cannot produce two kinds of water. The water is either bitter or sweet. In other words, the choice is ours; if we allow bitter water, or words of bitterness and complaints, to come out from our mouths, then our mouth cannot be used to praise God and speak words that edify people. If we choose to let words of praise, thanksgiving and edification to flow out from our mouths, then words of bitterness and complaints won't come out from us. We need to guard our hearts and minds, and we will be able to praise God all our life.

Brothers and sisters, may God help us, not to let our mouths be filled with curse. Our life on earth is short and all things will eventually go away. Do you feel that you can't let certain things go? Even those things will go away! Sometimes you see humble people rise up and wealthy people become humble, but these are all little things that will go away! Sometimes you see people become successful and others fail, even you might have experienced success and failure, but both successes and failures will go away! May God help us, let us focus on God, for only God is ever-lasting. Our hearts will be filled with peace and joy only when we are focused on God. That's why verse 7 says that our hope is in God. When you have hope in God, your life won't fall into shame. So, let us once again look upon God, and let us trust Him wholeheartedly!

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, we thank you because you are the true and precious Lord, and you are the only one that lasts forever. May the Lord teach us to control our tongue, let us always speaks words that praise God and edify people, so that your will may be satisfied. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
