Psalm 41:6-13
...Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me. But may you have mercy on me, Lord; raise me up, that I may repay them. I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever. Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
Psalm one to forty-one make up a complete section in the Book of Psalms. This section consists mostly of the personal expressions of thoughts and feelings by the psalmist before God, and most of the section was written by David. In the lifetime of David, even though He experienced all kinds of hardship and pain, he knew that he should spill out his feelings to God while faced with all kinds of hardship and pain. Especially when he was attached by the enemy, David would cry out to God and ask God to vindicate him. In verse 9, however, he said that "Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me." Sometimes it's easier to tolerate attacks by the enemy because you expect to be attacked by those who don't like us and supposed to be attacking us. But when you are attacked by your beloved friends, confidants or even allies, it's really hard to tolerate.
Brothers and sisters, have you been in such circumstance? No one can understand the pain that you are suffering in your heart, but did you know that our Lord Jesus Christ also suffered the same before? The night Lord Jesus was betrayed, Judah had dinner with Him and then sold him out. In John 13:18, Jesus used this passage and said: "He who shared my bread has turned against me." When Lord Jesus was on earth, he actually experienced all kinds of hardship that we would experience in the world, and that's why Jesus Christ can bring comfort to us. Not only does He understand us, He can also comfort us and support us deep down in our soul.
When Lord Jesus was on the cross, He said "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they have done." The love of Jesus Christ has overcome hatred and death, and the resurrection power of Jesus Christ will fill us! No matter what kind of difficulty or suffering we encounter, there's no burden is too heavy for Jesus Christ to bear, and no sadness cannot be comforted by Jesus, because Jesus has already experienced everything for us! He took on everything for us on the cross, and He personally brought us the power to overcome, hallelujah!
