John 8:1-11
....They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and starting to write on the ground with his finger. The they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, '"If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the old ones first, until only Jesus was left with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where they? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one , sir," "Then neither do I condemn you ," Jesus declared, "Go now and leave your life of sin."
Our God is full of mercy and kindness! We often like to judge others because that makes us look righteous. When this woman who had committed adultery was brought before Jesus, they asked Jesus, " According to the law, she should be stoned to death. But what would you do?" This is quite a difficult question because they would accuse Him whatever answer Jesus provided. If Jesus said , " Yes, she should be stoned to death." Then they would respond, " You have taught us to be kind and merciful, where is your principle now." But if Jesus' reply was ," You cannot stone her to death." Then Jesus would have disobeyed the Laws of Moses.
Instead, Jesus wisely asked them in return , " Who amongst you is without sin, you can cast the first stone."Then He scribbled on the sand. I believe Jesus could be writing all the sins committed by the crowd. So when they saw their sins were listed one by one, they all left from old to young! Why was it from old to young? When people grow older, they would find out more about his sins, so when they saw what were listed, they realized they are all sinners, how could they cast the first stone?" Young people might felt , "What sin do we have? " But when Jesus listed the sins they have committed, they all left as a result. There was not a person who dared to condemn this woman because they were all sinners coming short of the glory of God.
Jesus then asked the woman, " Has no one condemn you ?" She replied, "No one" Hallelujah! No matter what situation you may be in, Jesus will deliver you from all sins. Jesus is not a God who would condemn your sin. He is full of mercy and love, and He came to this world to save us from the bondage of sin so that we would no longer be under its influence! Jesus then said, "From today onward, sin no more." When we have received this salvation, we are free from the bondage of sin and would lead a victorious live; never to walk in darkness again, but in the light of Jesus Christ instead!
