Romans 2:5-11

"But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.  God will give to each person according to what he has done.  To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.  There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.  For God does not show favoritism."

God doesn't show favoritism, and He always works in His ways.  Many do not understand God's ways and there has been many unnecessary misunderstandings, wondering why God is doing this or that.  Actually, in everything that He does, God has His principles.

In the Old Testament time, the sons of Adam, Abel and Cain, worked hard and offered what they produced to God as sacrifice.  Abel offered a lamb, and Cain offered vegetables from the field.  It turned out that God was pleased with the sacrificed offered by Abel, but not Cain.  We might feel that Cain was treated unfairly, but actually God is the most fair.  After Adam committed sin, God made him a leather outfit, which represents the sign for salvation.  God wanted people to offer animals with blood to represent the work that our Savior Jesus Christ will accomplish.  In the Old Testament, whenever people offer sacrifices with blood by faith, their sins are forgiven.  Offering vegetables from the field was for thanksgiving and peace, but sacrifices with blood are necessary in order to make peace with God and remove any barrier of sin.  Therefore, the gifts offered by Abel pleased God and gifts offered by Cain didn't.  Abel and Cain are supposed to know this principle, but Cain intentionally didn't follow God's way and wanted to offer sacrifice in his own way, thus God's curse came upon him.

God always do things following His own principles, and we need to come before Him to understand His will.  Are you still in a state of doubt and feel that God shows favoritism?  Actually, God still cares about you and God has always prepared "glory, honor and immortality" for those who obey Him.

Pray with Pastor Tong

Lord, please open my eyes to understand your principles, and to understand that you do not show favoritism.  Only in you will we receive eternal blessings.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
