Today's Passage - Luke 20:37-44

Luke 20:37-44

'But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.  He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.'

Our God is not God of the death, but God of the living, and He is the true God who is alive.  When we hear the testimonies of the spiritual giants, and read the miraculous acts of God in the Bible, we often think those are the things of the past.  Indeed, our God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and they are all characters of the past that lived in rather different environment and epoch from us.  When we listen to sermons, we also feel that God is the God of the future, for one day Jesus Christ will come and we will be with Him forever.  In this scripture passage, however, Jesus declared to us that our God is the God of the living, and He is not only our God of the past and the future, but He's also God of the present.

When we encounter all kinds of pressure and difficulties in life, we often seek eagerly for the Lord's guidance, but actually the Lord is with us all the time.  Sometimes we hear the prayer of others to seek for the Lord's presence, but actually as long as we believe, the Lord will be with us.  Gospel of John says that the Lord's presence is an eternal presence, not a temporary one, and it won't be taken away.  May the Holy Spirit open our slow mind and let us know the Lord's current presence, salvation and healing.

Revival evangelist John Fox has said that there is a temple of God in our heart which has a sanctuary, and we need to listen attentively, solemnly and faithfully, because the Lord is with us in the sanctuary in our heart right now.  Perhaps you are anxious about you job, but don't forget that the Lord is walking with you right now; you can tell Him all your concerns, because He may know your job better than you.  You might be worried about your future, but don't forget that the Lord is with you, and you can tell me how you feel.  Don't ever think that God didn't hear you or God won't do anything, because God has heard everything, and He has already started working, so let us thank Him and praise Him!

Lord, I thank you because you are present everywhere, and you are with us all the time.  You are the God of now and you will bring forth salvation, healing and grace right now.  I ask that you demonstrate your presence in our daily life.  I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
