Today's Passage - Hebrews 1:8-9

Hebrews 1:8-9
But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."
The passage here mentions that God's throne will last forever and ever. The things of this world will pass away and the powers of this world will pass away. During the time of the early church, the Romans persecuted the church. But with the passing of time, the Roman empire fell, but the throne of God endures forever. The earthly government will pass away and everything on earth will pass away, but the Gospel is still spreading around the world. Even today, as we hear about church leaders being arrested, we believe that God is still seated on the throne and in control.
God's Kingdom authority is justice. He loves righteousness and hates wickedness. There is much wickedness in the world and you may think it is unfair when you see injustice. However, you need to realize that God's Kingdom is upright and one day His righteous judgment will come upon the world. The Bible specifically mentions that the God we believe in is a God who will take vengeance for us. When you encounter difficulties and do not know what to do, you can bring all your needs before God and declare that God's Kingdom is righteous. God can eliminate any injustice, darkness and evil, and the light of God's Kingdom can shine into your life.
God's Kingdom is also joy, just as Romans 14:17 says, "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." God's Kingdom is full of joy. No wonder people say, if not for joy, what is the meaning of Heaven? When you enter into the salvation of Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit dwells in you and will release joy. There will not only be the peace of being pardoned from our sins, but God will also give us joy. The Bible mentions that this joy is unspeakable joy and is a glowing joy that this world cannot take away. Do you have such joy? If you do not, let the Kingdom of God reign in your life today so that you may experience this joy.
Pray with Pastor Tong
Lord, I thank you because your Kingdom will last forever and ever. Your Kingdom is righteousness and joy. May you grant us joy in our spirits so that we may find strength in you each day of our lives. I thank you and pray in the victorious name of Jesus, Amen!
