Psalm 26:1-12

Vindicate me, Lord, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the Lord and have not faltered. Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind...

Verse 2 says that "Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind." The Psalmist asked God to do three things in his life. First, he asked God to test him. Brothers and sisters, we must always ask the Holy Spirit to shine upon us. We often ask God to vindicate us, but we first put the blame on others, or even on God, and we overlook our own responsibilities. May God reveal how we have forsaken God and others so that we will have good conscience. May the Spirit of God examine us so that we may keep a clean hand and pure heart before God.

Second, he asked God to try him. Did you know that God will try us? When God tries us, we may not feel any joy during the process, but those have gone through trials will reap the fruit of peace and joy from their lives. So, don't ever turndown trials from God; when God is trying you, He doesn't want you to struggle through it and try to solve the problems by yourself; when God tries you, He actually already has the answers, and all you need to do is to come before God and ask Him to reveal His will and His act. We often rush to seek for answers; we'd end up in flesh and we miss the real answers. When we seek God and depend on Him, we will be renewed in strength from God.

Third, he asked God to examine his heart and his mind. When we are in agonizing circumstances and going through trials by fire, we feel that our lives are tried by God just like gold and silver going through fire again and again. Perhaps in such process you feel that you cannot persevere and carry on any more, but God allows these things to happen to you so that our lives can be purified more. Through the process of purification, God wants to see whether we can stand firm. Brothers and sisters, don't ever turn down the trials in your life, because as long as we turn back to God in every trial, He will have mercy on us and let us regain strength.

Lord, I ask that you test us, try us and examine us, so that your heart may be satisfied. We once again give our lives to your hands, and may our lives reflect the form of Jesus Christ. I thank you and I pray in the victorious name of Jesus, amen!
